As a sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania, Ravi decided to give intramural sports a try. After signing for his house's intramural football team, he set out to play in his first game one unseasonably cold Fall evening, dreaming of gridiron glory. After walking nine blocks, he reached the impeccably kept field, illuminated with bright stadium lights, only to find... no one there. The game had been canceled.

Undaunted, he set out the following week, braving the chilly Philadelphia night. Only to find the game canceled, again. In the age of computers, email, cell phones, and laser pointers, he had somehow managed to miss the memo about the canceled games.

Puzzled, he called his close high school friend to see if he was experiencing the same problem at MIT. And they found that they weren't alone. All around the country, students didn't know when games were canceled, and this was the tip of the iceberg. Refs had no idea when they were assigned to games, staff were spending hours transcribing player information from sheets of paper to excel spreadsheets or desktop software, and worse. After seeing one intramural director print out hundreds of sheets of paper and lay them out over every corner of his office in an attempt to determine which teams should be put in which divisions, they decided it was time for a change.

Ravi, Mark, Nelson, and Benoit set out to build an intramural league management system for the 21st century. Entirely web based, it sought to save time for everyone involved with rec sports, and, just as importantly, strengthen the community.

Athleague does just that. Many schools all around the country use Athleague for their intramural programs (and to see how they feel about it, check out our Testimonials section).

But the team didn't stop there. As the recession hit in 2009 and rec budgets were deeply cut, they decided there was more work to be done. By negotiating deals with top flight sponsors, they not only brought the company to profitability, but arranged a revenue share that will pay each school an average of thousands of dollars a year just for using the website.

And the company continues to aim higher. They're constantly searching for ways to make intramural programs more money, and they'll soon be expanding their offering to include software solutions for other parts of college recreation departments. They welcomed Noah Becker to the team in 2010 to help manage the ever-growing list of colleges using Athleague.

Our Team

Ravi Mishra
Co-founder & CEO
Ravi Mishra is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where he double majored in Materials Science Engineering and Business and played club Roller Hockey.

Though no one believes him, he swears he started at outside linebacker on his high school football team. He enjoys many sports, counting football, soccer, and hockey as his favorites (unfortunately, despite the picture, he's has no surfing skill, though he enjoys it thoroughly).
Benoit Simon
CTO
Benoit Simon is a graduate from the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Mines de Paris and Paris XI, where he got his masters in System Controls and Signal Processing. Born and raised in France, his passion was for track and field, which led him to become French champion for 300m and 400m.

His trans-atlantic move to the US opened him to new traditional American sports, like curling or speed stacking. His dream is to help all the sports communities organize and enjoy their sports with no hassle. He is committed to deliver the best product in town. Or even out of town.
Mark Boudreau
Co-Founder & VP of Engineering
A fan of all things Boston, Mark "Bo" Boudreau was born and raised to be on the field. A 2-sport athlete in both high school and college, including co-captain of the MIT football team (probably the smallest captain, if not player, on record), Bo's passion for playing sports is only rivaled by his passion for watching his teams win championships.

At a close third is his love for helping people compete. What started with running tournaments on paper evolved when Mark created a website during college to automate the process, and has continued with his engineering committment at Athleague.
Nelson Lai
Lead UI/UX Engineer
Nelson Lai is a California transplant who came to Boston for school, and ended up sticking around despite the terrible weather. An avid tennis and basketball player, he majored in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT, with a particular interest in algorithms and interaction design.

Although originally a Lakers fan (during the late Magic and early Kobe years), after more than a decade in Boston, he now bleeds Celtics green. These days, he stays active playing bocce and riding his fixed-gear bike to the grocery store.
Noah Becker
Marketing & Social Media
Noah Becker is a Philadelphia sports nut, but please don't hold that against him. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania in 2009, he worked in Public Programming for the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY.

Noah joined the Athleague team as the College Outreach Coordinator in May 2010, and, after moving to Marketing in the winter, has spent most of his time on Facebook and Twitter.
Shane Delmore
College Outreach Coordinator
Shane Delmore is graduate of MIT, where he concentrated in Information Technologies and Finance from the Sloan School of Management. Having been born and raised in North Dakota, he enjoys the "mild" Boston winters, rarely wearing a coat even with snow falling.

Despite only minor successes as a high school tennis player, he did become a three-time IM championship football player in college. He is an avid sports fan and can be seen every Sunday during football season wearing his throwback Bo Jackson jersey.
